Rockdale means business.
Rockdale will prove it means business next week with a Economic Development Week observance that will include ground breaking on the Coffield Industrial Park and several other events.
The ground breaking is set for 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the park, just north of the Juvenile Justice Center on FM 487.
A plastics manufacturing industry is relocating to the industrial park.
SCAVENGER HUNT— The week’s activities actually kick off on Monday with a proclamation and recognition during the monthly city council session, which starts at 5:30 at City Hall.
Also starting Monday, a “did you know scavenger hunt” begins as players work toward winning prizes at a business social beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, May 12 at The Ranch.
“Come by City Hall, the MDD office or the Chamber of Commerce office and pick up the sheets,” Sari McCoy of the Rockdale ISD said.
“The game will introduce you to products and services you may not know are available in Rockdale,” she said.
Players will turn in game sheets during a community wide family celebration from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Wolf Park and the drawing will be the next evening at The Ranch .
RISD, SOCIAL—There’s something special each weekday.
Wednesday, May 10, is Rockdale ISD Economic Day with events planned for RHS seniors.
The community-wide celebration from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Wolf Park includes food, fun and games.
It all wraps up Friday, May 12 with the “business social” at The Ranch.
Community and business members are invited that night to network and mingle with new customers.
GOALS—Goal of the week is to “increase awareness” regarding the efforts of the Rockdale Municipal Development District to create jobs, develop careers, and support local business growth.
Entities supporting Economic Development Week include the City of Rockdale, Rockdale Municipal Development District, Central Texas Workforce Cen- ter-Rockdale, the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale Independent School District, Rockdale Downtown Association and Little River Healthcare.
