In the last article, we talked about the importance of having good data for local businesses. Insightful data is already available on the Rockdale Municipal Development (RMDD) website at www.RockdaleMDD.org under ‘Data Center’
The RMDD and City also subscribe to a data service which captures data from your cell phone. With this information, we can tell where customers or visitors come from, their demographic profile, and lots more.
The coolest feature of this data is called PersonaLive. Our entire population can be separated into customer segments; each of these segments have their own demographic and behavioral characteristics. PersonaLive gives very detailed information about these segments.
Two of the largest segments of Rockdale’s population are Pastoral Pride and Autumn Years (total 29%) and we know that these folks are middle class older consumers with certain spending patterns. We can see what they spend their money on, what kind of media they consume, and who their influencers are.
A business seeking to market to this third of the population can create an event, product, or advertising which can better attract these segments.
