Market Reach
Trucks leaving Rockdale reach the state's largest metro areas in about four hours. A 12-hour drive covers most of the South Central United States, from New Mexico to Alabama and north into Kansas and Missouri.
Highways
US 79 runs west from Rockdale through Taylor and Hutto to SH 130 and I-35. SH 130 bypasses Austin, linking I-35 north of Georgetown with I-10 east of San Antonio. US 77 runs north to Cameron and Temple and south toward I-10 and the Gulf Coast. Looking ahead, TxDOT is studying routes for the future Interstate 14 Central Texas Corridor, which would run east from the Killeen–Temple area through Milam County.
Rail
Union Pacific's line runs through Rockdale alongside US 79, and BNSF also uses the line. About 30 minutes west in Taylor, the 750-acre RCR Taylor Logistics Park has access to both railroads and offers transloading, manifest and unit-train service, and storage, so companies can ship by rail without building their own spur.
